Can I begin by thanking the Master and Clerk of the Worshipful Company of Butchers for hosting tonight’s event in this beautiful hall.
One upside of the current tight labour market is surely that we have begun to realise just how important some roles are and hopefully affording those in the hospitality industry, as well as others, a greater level of appreciation and respect. Tonight, I am sure you will agree they have it in buckets.

It is an honour and a privilege to stand before you today as the newly elected Master of the Guild of Human Resource Professionals. I am delighted to welcome you all as members, freeman, guests and friends of the HR Guild who are in attendance this evening.
I am very excited to be here and thank you for joining us.
Being part of the HR Guild is a chance for me and for us all to give back to the wonderful profession which I love… and I am also a big Harry Potter fan… so the capes are a bonus. And while there is no Sorting Cap we do have a Loving Cup ceremony coming your way.
