Banter, making or breaking barriers

July 3 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Virtual Event

Overview

This practical webinar will explore the impact of workplace banter and where the line can sometimes be crossed between humour and behaviour that makes people feel uncomfortable, excluded or undermined. The session will look at the “grey areas” around workplace humour, the effect inappropriate banter can have on individuals and teams, and practical steps charities can take to create respectful, inclusive and psychologically safe cultures without losing fun and connection in the workplace.

You’ll learn

  • What workplace banter is – and when it is and is not OK
  • The impact banter can have when it crosses the line
  • How inappropriate humour can affect confidence, motivation and team culture
  • Practical ways to challenge or respond to inappropriate comments constructively
  • The role allies can play in preventing behaviour escalating into bullying or harassment
