Holding Steady When Everything Shifts: Leading People Through Change

Overview
Change in the charity sector rarely arrives as a single, contained event. It comes through funding pressures, restructures, leadership transitions, and the challenge of doing more with less while the mission continues. This practical session explores the human side of change and helps leaders understand why what appears to be resistance is often grief, fear, uncertainty, or a loss of identity. Drawing on organisational psychology and the Tavistock tradition, participants will gain practical tools to lead themselves and their teams through periods of transition.
You’ll learn
- How people experience psychological transition during periods of change.
- Why resistance is often rooted in deeper emotional responses rather than opposition.
- How to apply the Immunity to Change framework to identify competing commitments that hold leaders back.
- Practical coaching and self-management techniques to support resilience and effective leadership through change.
