SUMMARY:Knowledge\, Information and Human Potential Group - EDI Discussion
DESCRIPTION:“What’s Gone Wrong With EDI\, And How Can Leaders Can Fix It?”  \nWednesday 14th May 2025 –  18.00 for 18.30 start  at The Worshipful Company of Information Technologists’ Hall\, 39a\, Bartholomew Close. EC1A 7JN \nSimon Fanshawe OBE\, Rector of Edinburgh University\, partner in Diversity by Design \nNelarine Cornelius\,  Associate Dean\, People Culture\, and Inclusion\, Queen Mary University  \nEfforts by organisations to promote diversity and inclusion are falling into disrepute with many senior leaders because they are not delivering value to staff\, customers\, and shareholders.  Leaders generally want to tackle discrimination and open-up opportunity in their companies\, but the work has itself proved politically charged and potentially divisive. \nMany leaders want EDI to be taken off the political football pitch. It has become caught between an ‘anti-woke’ gang who want to tear the whole edifice down and self-described ‘progressives’\, who want to impose rules on their colleagues in the name of EDI that can seem dogmatic\, and (to some) frankly daft. The result of that is that diversity is losing credibility in the eyes of too many people. \nThe panel will chew these issues over with the audience and ask How Do We Reset so that EDI delivers lasting value? \nCost £30 per person – open event to Livery members and guests. Please book below \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Knowledge and Human Potential Group
DESCRIPTION:The future is still human? \nWhy we need to Connect to Prosper. \nA debate – 18.00 for 18.30 start on June 4th at The Worshipful Company of Information Technologists’ Hall\, 39a\, Bartholomew Close. EC1A 7JN \nThe motion is: “This house believes that human interaction is the path to increased productivity.” \nAs the UK heads for a General Election\, there is no shortage of views on what any new government’s priorities need to be. And we can be sure that growth and productivity will be at the heart of the economic policy agenda\, irrespective of who is in power. With debates raging about the role that Artificial Intelligence (and related innovations) will play in the future world of work and business\, now is a good time to examine just how far human potential can be realised. And why it matters to have the human touch. \nA launch group of 5 Livery Companies are working together to develop human potential\, through shared skills and knowledge and common approaches to life-long learning\, diversity and inclusion\, creativity\, and leadership\, leading to a vibrant and connected City community. This Group offers expert and collective support to many aspects of the City of London Corporation’s agenda such as The Lord Mayor’s ‘Connect to Prosper’ theme\, addressing diverse global challenges with the specific lens of human potential and creativity. \nThe emerging group of companies who are concerned with Knowledge and Human Potential are arranging a series of debates. The first one is being scheduled for 18:00 on June 4th at the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists’ WCIT Hall. Find the Hall at 39a Bartholomew Close\, London\, EC1A 7JN \nThere will be two people speaking for the proposal and two against. We have invited postgrad students from the City University to speak to each side of the debate\, and also two Liverymen. \nAnd just to prove human interaction is alive and well\, there will drinks and light refreshments for the connectivity session after the debate\, where no doubt the conversations and connections will continue. Cost £20 per person – open event to Livery members and guests. Please book below \nWith best wishes from the Masters of The Information Technologists\, Educators\, Management Consultants\, Communicators\, and HR Professionals. \nKerri Mansfield\, Master Information Technologist\nJanet Reynolds\, Master Educator\nKanan Barot\, Master Management Consultant\nSally Sykes\, Master Communicator\nStephen Sidebottom\, Master HR Professional
