SUMMARY:United Guilds’ Service
DESCRIPTION:The Annual United Guild Service will take place on Friday 24 March 2023 starting at 1115.  This will be a special year for the Company\, as it will be the first time we participate as a Company.  Added to this\, every year 12 Companies are asked to process at the start of the service and it is our turn to do so. \nThis means that we will be very much at the forefront of the service. \nTickets are limited to 23\, with 9 being in the Company Row and the remainder in other parts of the Cathedral.  As this is such a special year we would really like to fill all our spaces.  There is no cost to attend the United Guild Service\, though a collection will be made during the service. \nIf you wish to attend the service and represent the Company at this great occasion please complete the form. \nClosing date is the 10 March\, though if tickets are allocated early we will have to close bookings early. \nThere is also an opportunity to join the Master for lunch following the Service at Innholders Hall.  Please use the other booking for if you wish to attend the lunch.

DESCRIPTION:The Master is holding a series of seminars over the next few months \nThe first seminar will be held at the offices of Fox Williams on Thursday 16th May and the guest speaker will be Professor Laura Empson from Bayes Business School.  Professors Empson’s Biography can be found below. \n\n\n\nThe title of the presentation is – “Power and leadership in professional organizations: Navigating through ambiguity“.\n\n\n\nArrive for registration\, coffee and refreshments at 1800. \nThe seminar will formally begin at 1830 with a presentation and an opportunity for questions.\nFollowing the seminar at 1930\, there will be a networking opportunity with drinks/canapies.\nThe event will end at 2030 \nThe venue is \nFox Williams LLP\n10 Finsbury Square\nLondon\nEC2A 1AF \nThere is no charge as such for this event as such\, however we would ask all those attending to make a £10 donation to the HR Charitable Trust. \nBiography of the Speaker \nLaura Professor in the Management of Professional Service Firms at Bayes Business School\, University of London\, and holds Research Fellowships at both Harvard Law School and the University of Cambridge. \nShe has dedicated the past 30 years to researching professionals\, professionals\, and the professions\, and is a globally recognised expert in their leadership and governance. Laura’s research\, funded by a series of prestigious awards from the EU and UK government\, also explores organisational\, cultural and identity change; growth and leadership transitions\, mergers and acquisitions; professional careers; partner evaluation and reward systems; and the changing nature of professional work. \nIn addition to dozens of publications in leading academic journals\, she has published several books with Oxford University Press – her latest is Leading Professionals: Power\, Politics\, and Prima Donnas (reprinted in paperback\, 2022). \nLaura writes regularly for Harvard Business Review and presents the podcast series\, Leading Professional People. She has been nominated for the Thinkers 50 Leadership Award for her research on collective leadership. \nShe advises many of the world’s leading law\, accounting\, and consulting firms. From 2013 to 2016 Laura served on the Board of KPMG LLP (becoming Chair of the Independent Non-Executives). \nShe was previously Associate Professor at the University of Oxford. And why it matters to have the human touch. \nA launch group of 5 Livery Companies are working together to develop human potential\, through shared skills and knowledge and common approaches to life-long learning\, diversity and inclusion\, creativity\, and leadership\, leading to a vibrant and connected City community. This Group offers expert and collective support to many aspects of the City of London Corporation’s agenda such as The Lord Mayor’s ‘Connect to Prosper’ theme\, addressing diverse global challenges with the specific lens of human potential and creativity. \nThe emerging group of companies who are concerned with Knowledge and Human Potential are arranging a series of debates.
